Microsoft Buy Mojang For $2.5 Billion
Finally, the rumour has been confirmed : Microsoft will buy Mojang and the Minecraft franchise for $2.5 billion.
The Mojang team will join Microsoft Studios, maker of popular video games Halo, Forza and Fable, among others. Microsoft expects the deal to close in late 2014.
Mojang has also confirmed the information and announced that Markus "Notch" Persson and his two co founders will leave the studio and not join Microsoft.
